Konum:  DB-14 (New Campus)

TED University Center for Teaching and Learning is inviting all our academics to the seminar entitled “Using Team-based Learning in Teaching Strategic Management” by Assist. Prof. Dr. Birgul Arslan, KOÇ University.

Abstract:

Strategic Management; like in playing chess or tennis, is a skill which can be obtained only through learning-by-doing. With this in mind, I have been using Team-based Learning principles in the classroom to create an environment for experiencing strategy-related decision making processes. In this seminar, I will convey how my own application of TBL methodologies have evolved in the face of the challenges of our context. By using TBL methodology, I have been able to achieve active involvement in the class discussions and provoke critical thinking around the strategic issues that the companies face. Because the exercises are designed to reveal the trade-offs in strategic decision making, the students gain insight into the challenges that managers face in the global economy. Furthermore, the attendance remains consistently high; the ambiance, increasingly joyful.
