For many faculty members, professional or personal motivations to write and publish are frequently subverted to the day-to-day duties of teaching and conducting administrative tasks for the academic units and the university. As we manage external and internal expectations of publishing within our disciplines, it is utmost to understand the variables that both inspire and deter us from writing so we may better handle their impact. This presentation provides useful tips and strategies for enhancing writing productivity, including goal setting, maintaining focus, and dealing with distractions.
